Patriot Pen

The Delphos Chapter of the VFW recently sponsored a youth essay competition giving current 6th, 7th and 8th grade students the opportunity to write an essay expressing their views on an annual patriotic theme which for this year was, "America's Gift to My Generation". Students were judged on their knowledge of the theme, clarity of ideas and overall theme development. The essay needed to be the students original work and a product of the student's own thinking. St. John's had four junior high students selected as winners at the local level and competed at the district level, these students were Riley Taylor (7th), Adara Fuerst (8th), Cassidy Beining (8th) and Landon Elwer (8th). One of our students, Adara Fuerst, was chosen a winner at districts and will be competing at the state completion. Congratulations to all our students and good luck to Adara at state. Thank you also to Mrs. Ledyard for helping and guiding our students during their preparation.
